At least 2700 years old, this aegis is from the third intermediate period of Ancient Egypt. It is made of gold and features a three-dimensional representation of a broad collar (wesekh) with a counterweight (menat) and the head of what has been identified as the lion-headed goddess, Sekhmet. It measures 6.8 x 6.6 x 6.8 cm (2 11/16 x 2 9/16 x 2 11/16 in). This artifact is now housed at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, United States.
