The story of Dr. Frankenstein and his monster is now over 200 years old, with Mary Shelley’s book having been adapted or referenced in close to 500 films.

Word was out for quite some time that The Bride! was doomed, that Gyllenhaal was having an uphill battle during production; this marks her first big-budget movie after her three-time Oscar-nominated Lost Daughter, which cost $5M. Hence the push of the pic’s release date from last fall to this weekend.
